Why We Love Ontario’s Cottage Country

Cottage Country

It starts with packing the car and pulling of out the driveway to go up north. There is a feeling of freedom that takes over. Heading out of the city to go and relax and chill is what cottage country is all about. Driving on the highway it doesn’t matter if there is bumper to bumper traffic it’s the knowledge of knowing you will be sitting by a lake, jumping off the dock, roasting marshmallows and hanging out with family and friends that makes this sometimes arduous drive tolerable for so many Ontario cottagers.

As you drive further north the landscape starts to change to the land marked rugged Canadian Shield and windblown pine trees, and you feel your shoulders easy up. As you reach your destination, most likely down an unpaved winding dirt road you are greeted by the sounds and smells of Ontario’s Cottage Country. One look at the sun rays beading on the clear blue lake and you know you are back in the zone. It really doesn’t take much. For Ontario cottage goers the unparalleled scenery, smells, noises and emotions that are evoked while being up north is what keeps us coming back year after year. Winters are spent dreaming of being back at the cottage on a dock. It really is hard to describe to anyone that has not been. You have to experience for yourself to understand the personal relationship and connection we all feel with our beloved north.

Watching the fog slowly lift off the lake in the early morning, listening to the loon calls in the early evening, watching the sunset over the lake to the end of a beautiful day or quietly dipping your paddle and watching the water bead off while canoeing.  It’s not about one particular thing or experience that makes it so memorable but all the experiences and the true connection we have. And that is why we love Ontario’s Cottage Country.

You don’t have to own your own peace of haven to enjoy Ontario’s Beautiful North. There are hundreds of cottages available to rent. Whether you are looking for Cottage Rentals in Muskoka, Haliburton, Lake Huron or Georgian Bay you will be sure to find for a memorable experience.
