The core of the house @ 82 Sydney Street, framed with massive 5” thick vertical timbers, was built by a liquor merchant at about the time of Confederation. For some time the house belonged to a family with eleven children – all girls – so many islanders have memories of visiting, playing in the back yard, and pulling a home-made donut out of the crock in the pantry.
Now three lovely apartments, it has been up-dated and added to over the years, but still retains many of its original features. The current owners, from Massachusetts, have been coming to the island for decades, and have chosen this as the perfect spot.
There’s an Island expression “Home from Away” that perfectly captures the feeling of the apartment. It is set up for easy-care comfort with a gracious mix of contemporary furniture and island antiques, and since it is also a gallery for the work of fine art photographer Richard A. Chase the walls surround you with beautiful examples of his work.

LOCAL ATTRACTIONS
Charlottetown, the capital of Prince Edward Island, includes parks, waterfront, residential and commercial areas which remain the core of the downtown today. 82 Sydney is just off the center of this culturally rich area. It is less than a five minute walk to the board walk, the waterfront park and the marina as well as the legislature, cinema, theaters, galleries, shops, dance classes, Victoria Row, the library, great book stores, a mall, most of the restaurants in the city, the Culinary Institute and a weekly Farmer’s Market. A ten minute walk brings you to the 100 acre amenity-filled Victoria Park, and a half-hour drive brings you to some of the best beaches on the island. Rain or shine, there’s always something to do. The Island is at your doorstep, so come and enjoy it at The Charlottetown Chase Condo! Take a look at any of the following to get a feel for the place. |
